Saturday 27th June : Firth of Forth and North Berwick

We left our berth in Arbroath at 08-30 and refuelled on the way out. By 09-15 we were sailing - hurray !! The sailing didn't last for long as the wind rapidly diminished but the sun came out and we felt warm for the first time this season! We were headed as we approached the 'North Carr' east cardinal buoy off the northern entrance to the Firth of Forth. Ahead we could see the familiar sights of The Isle of Mey, Bass Rock, and North Berwick Law.

The Isle of Mey.

Bass Rock under the genoa.

Our arrival at North Berwick coincided with the start of the local sailing club's dinghy race. We approached the committee boat to find out that we had time to nip across the fleet, and feel our way through the narrow entrance to the moorings in West Bay. We picked up a mooring with only just enough water to stay afloat at low water with the keel down.

The town from the moorings with North Berwick Law behind.

Rocks surrounding West Bay with Fidra in the background.

After a quiet night on the mooring we continued our journey.
