Exploring Portsmouth : 26th October

We boarded the Gosport ferry to cross the harbour to the Portsmouth terminal next to the train station. Having decided to go up the Spinnaker Tower after lunch, we walked past the tower and through old Portsmouth on the way to Southsea waterfront. Along the way we took in the sights.

Children's entertainment.

Land Rover BAR headquarters.

The Bridge Tavern.

Southsea to Ryde hovercraft.

We had lunch in 'The Canteen' cafe built into part of the original sea wall fortifications known as the 'Hotwalls' which gave us a fantastic view of ships coming and going through the entrance to the harbour.

A fine day in Portsmouth.

We enjoyed our visit up the Spinnaker tower taking many green tinged photographs of the spectacular views through the tinted glass of the observation platforms.

Later in the day we returned via the ferry and walked around Gosport taking in Gosport and Royal Clarence Marinas. The Clipper Round the World yacht fleet were moored in Gosport Marina and made quite a sight.

We left Portsmouth the next day and headed back to the anchorage at Pilsey Island for the night. On the 28th October our season came to an end as we returned to moor in Chichester Marina for the winter.
